We are super excited to announce this long awaited new packaging:
The world's first compostable tea box. What has always upset us was that
while tea makes us feel so amazing with it's uplifting, soothing,
healthful effects, and while the tea leaves eventually go back to the
earth, the actual container that holds the tea, remains, long after the tea is gone, and likely long after we're gone. Why?
The
obvious reason is that tea containers must be made out of metal in
order to keep the tea fresh. Well, we got tired of mining the earth for
minerals to make cans, and to literally ship "air" from Asia to America,
using huge amounts of energy in producing, and shipping these
containers. It just didn't make sense. So we drank a lot of tea, thought
about it a lot, and drank some more. And then we designed the Tea Box.
This
new packaging is only available at Samovar or on our website - nowhere
else in the world can you see, touch, and use this amazing new
packaging.
We've taken post consumer recycled
cardboard and manufactured an origami-style folding cardboard box to
hold our tea. It's made in America. It comes flattened so it takes up
virtually no space or weight. And, it contains a special kind of plastic
liner bag to keep the tea airtight. And it's actually not even plastic.
It's a wood based pulp that looks and acts like plastic, but that biodegrades!
This
new packaging not only looks elegant and simple and sexy, it's from the
US, and it functions perfectly to store tea. There is even a handy
metal clip to secure the bag once it's opened. And finally, we included
an inspirational sticker in every box. We've got nearly 20 different
cool stickers to be inspired by when you sip your tea.
